Lama Konchok Sonam Biography A fully ordained Gelong (monk), Venerable Lama Konchok Sonam began his Buddhist training at a young age. He completed retreat on Ngondro (Common and Extraordinary Preliminaries), and the Fivefold Path of Mahamudra under H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, retreat master, and Gelong Yeshe, retreat Teacher. He has taught the Dharma in many parts of the world and has server as personal attendant to H.H. Chungtsang Rinpoche, H.E. Drubwang Rinpoche, Tongkar Tulku, and H.E. Thritsab Rinpoche. Lama Sonam as served as the disciplinarian for the monks at the famous monastery Jang Chub Ling, in Dehra Dun, India. This is a very difficult position which requires extremely vast knowledge of the Buddha Dharma, as well as deep inner qualities which can inspire those around him. Lama Konchok Sonam arrived in Boston on June 9, 2003, and he has quickly transformed the level of our Drikung Meditation Center. He is extremely kind and gentle and at the same time very strong and disciplined. He inspires trust and devotion in all who meet him. Lama Sonam is expert in both the theoritical and practical aspects of training our minds through meditation and other methods. Lama Sonam now leads all of DMC meditation and teaching sessions, and has given us a wonderful vision of some exciting long term goals for the Drikung Meditation Center in Boston.
